I'm very sorry that April was a very post-less month, but that's because all three of us have been swamped with work and been unable to attend to the blog. To make it up to you, our beloved readers, we're going to have a new post every day in the month of May (that rhymes!). You can expect more of our opinionated views and elitist comments in the following weeks.
This post is coming a few weeks late but it needs to be made. In my review of issue #555 I stated how I'm having a hard time seeing where the current Fantastic Four story arch fits into the Marvel continuity. Well, this issue makes even less sense.
The CAP robot which broke loose has been causing all sorts of trouble, going around destroying military bases and whatnot. With Reed in another dimension the remaining three members of the Fantastic Four are called out to stop the rampaging robot. When they get to the area where the robot is supposed to strike next they are told that S.H.I.E.L.D. has sent forty other supers to help them... and that is when we are treated to a two page spread of defeated super heroes. From what I can make out these heroes include but aren't limited to:
- Wolverine
- Storm
- Miss Marvel
- Spider-Man
- Hercules
- Vision
- Iron Fist
- Iron Man
- Yellow Jacket
- Spider-Woman
- The Sentry
- Dr. Strange
- Luke Cage
- Wonder Man
This is my main problem with this story arch. How are so many Marvel heroes in this story and it isn't even referenced outside of this book? How is this even taking place because these heroes all have their own books and are doing completely different things that don't involve getting their asses kicked by a robot. Some characters like Wolverine are in like five different books right now, where are they finding the time to show up in this too?
How in the hell did they lose? If you have the Sentry on your side you don't loose to a weak ass robot. Why doesn't Iron Man just call down another satellite strike like he did to take down the Hulk (that was compete bullshit by the way)? I cannot believe that a group of heroes as formidable as that could be beaten by such a simple foe.
Why are the Mighty Avengers working along side the New Avengers? I subscribe to the New Avengers and there is no way that they could possibly be in this book as well. Both they and the Mighty Avengers have their hands full with that whole Secret Invasion thing.
This storyline is leaving me very confused since it seems to be completely disregarding the Marvel continuity. It especially angers me how the Fantastic Four Secret Invasion crossover is going to be a separate set of books and not in the main series. That's just great. Two story lines at once.
On a lighter note Johnny totally boned that super villain chick. Yea, that's hot.
