Recently a group of fans released an 8-bit version of Left 4 Dead that is both faithful to the original game and to the NES era in general. All four of the original game's characters and campaigns have been translated into 8-bit style, as well as the special infected. What really impressed me is the attention to detail such as including the first and second tier weapons, dual pistol wielding, midi versions of the game's soundtrack such as the safehouse music, and the inclusion of a shove button. The whole package feels incredibly true to the original game and is really a sight to see. Due to technical limitations of the NES, however, the game is only playable by two players at most, but that shouldn't be a dealbreaker. So definitely check out the game which is
available free of charge at Epic Ruth Games.
